Rescue · Rehabilitate · Rehome · Remember
Every pawprint has its time 2 SHINE.
A small Central Texas rescue with a big commitment: safe placement, honest matching, lifelong support, and sanctuary for animals who cannot be adopted.
Submitting an application does not place an animal on hold or guarantee adoption.
Adopt from AT2R
Find the right fit—not just the fastest one.
Our process is intentionally hands-on. We learn about your household, match needs honestly, and give both the family and animal time to adjust before adoption is final.

Medical care
Animals receive age-appropriate veterinary care. Spay or neuter, vaccines, microchip, and prevention status are reviewed before final placement.
Honest matching
We share what we know about behavior, training, energy level, and household fit—including limitations.
Always return to us
AT2R animals may not be sold, given away, or rehomed without approval. If life changes, contact the rescue.
How adoption works
A careful path to a lasting home.
-
1
Application
Tell us about your household, current animals, experience, and what you are looking for.
-
2
Conversation and match
We discuss the animal you are interested in, your expectations, and any questions before scheduling a visit.
-
3
Meet and greet
Meetings are scheduled, generally at Lions Park in Temple. Bring required household members or pets when directed.
-
4
Home visit and gradual visits
After the deposit, we complete a home visit and use progressive visits when the match needs more time.
-
5
24-hour overnight
The overnight helps confirm that the home, animal, and household routine work together.
-
6
Finalize and follow up
Complete the fee and contract, then stay connected through the 3-3-3 adjustment period and beyond.

Pet emergency & future planning
Prepare before your pet needs the plan.
AT2R helps families think beyond adoption: evacuation, identification, backup caregivers, and what happens to pets if an owner is hospitalized or dies.
Build a two-week pet go-bag
- Two weeks of food, water, and daily medication
- Crate or carrier, leash, harness, and ID tags
- Bowls, waste supplies, bedding, and comfort items
- Pet first-aid supplies and a recent clear photo
Protect records and identification
- Keep vaccine, prescription, and ownership records in a waterproof bag
- Save a digital backup somewhere you can reach away from home
- Record the microchip number and registry contact information
- Update the registry whenever your phone, address, or caregiver changes
Make an evacuation plan
- Identify pet-friendly destinations before an emergency
- Practice loading every animal and label each carrier
- Plan for cats, large dogs, livestock, seniors, and medical needs
- Choose a trusted backup person who can reach your animals
Create an “after I pass” pet plan
- Name a primary and backup caregiver who have agreed to help
- Write down feeding, medication, behavior, vet, and microchip details
- Keep copies with your important papers and chosen caregivers
- Review the plan yearly and after any major life change

About A Time 2 Remember
Every life matters. Every journey is remembered.
A Time 2 Remember Rescue is a Temple, Texas nonprofit focused on rescue, rehabilitation, responsible adoption, and education. We work especially with dogs who need time, training, medical care, or a safer next chapter.
Older and non-adoptable animals may remain in sanctuary. Adopted animals are always welcome back when circumstances change—because rescue responsibility does not end at placement.
Current intake status
AT2R is closed to new intakes.
We do not have safe space to accept additional owner surrenders, strays, litters, or drop-offs right now. Showing up with an animal does not create capacity and can put animals already here at risk.
If you need help now
- Contact your local animal control or municipal shelter.
- Ask area rescues and humane organizations about waitlists or courtesy posts.
- Contact a veterinarian for urgent medical concerns.
- For immediate danger to people or animals, contact local emergency services.
A Time 2 Bake
Baked with purpose.
Ask about homemade cookies, rolls, cupcakes, mini loaves, custom desserts, and rescue-supporting event orders from Temple, Texas.

We are a small rescue, so text or email may be easier to answer while animal care is underway. Visits and meet-and-greets are by appointment only.
